Salta Tele-Stroke Network
The Tele-Stroke Network is a collaborative public-private initiative that strengthens emergency neurological care across Salta through telemedicine, standardized clinical protocols, and strategic partnerships.
The Network is an integrated provincial initiative designed to improve stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery across one of Argentina's most geographically and culturally diverse regions. By connecting hospitals, emergency services, educational institutions and local communities, the Network ensures that specialized stroke care can reach patients wherever they are.

Today, the Network connects six strategic hospitals through real-time telemedicine and unified clinical protocols coordinated by Hospital San Bernardo. Patient outcomes and time-to-treatment are systematically tracked across all participating hospitals to support continuous quality improvement and impact evaluation. Beyond emergency care, the Network also promotes community awareness, trains healthcare professionals, works with schools and Indigenous communities, and supports patients throughout their recovery, creating a coordinated, scalable model that continues to strengthen stroke care across the province.
A 360° Model for Stroke Care
A scalable model that can be replicated across underserved regions in Argentina and Latin America.
The Salta Tele-Stroke Network is built on four interconnected pillars that work together to improve every stage of stroke care, from prevention and early recognition to diagnosis, treatment and long-term recovery. Rather than relying on a single intervention, the Network combines technology, education and collaboration to deliver equitable care across the province.
COMPLETING THE NETWORK
The immediate need
The Salta Tele-Stroke Network has demonstrated that coordinated stroke care saves lives. The next step is strengthening diagnostic capacity across the province. While hospitals are already connected through telemedicine, access to reliable CT imaging remains the Network's greatest infrastructure challenge. Expanding and modernizing CT scanners will allow more patients to receive timely diagnosis and life-saving treatment, regardless of where they live.

Working with the 6 current network hospitals

Adding 2 strategically located hospitals
A fully connected network also requires modern diagnostic equipment. Expanding CT capacity is the next step toward equitable stroke care across Salta.
Each CT scanner requires:
- Secure connectivity for image transmission.
- Conditioned and isolated room.
- Computer and specialized software.
- Patient registration and follow-up system.

Beyond the Hospital
Building a Culture of Prevention
Led by Fundación Por Nuestros Niños, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, healthcare institutions and community partners, the Network promotes stroke awareness through school-based education, community outreach and culturally adapted prevention programs.
By empowering students, teachers, families and local communities to recognize stroke symptoms and respond quickly, the Network strengthens the first and most important link in the chain of survival.
